ACSR:  ALUMINUM CONDUCTORS STEEL REFINFORCED

1. Description 

The conductor consists of Hard drawn Aluminum wires and Zinc coated steel wires built up in concentric layers.

The centre wire or wires are of zinc-coated and the outer layer or layers of Aluminum.

The wires are stranded in successive layers in opposite direction and the outer layer is right hand direction Z.

Natural grease may be applied between the layers of ACSR except the outer layer.

2. Standard 

Construction as per DIN48204, BS 215 part2, CSA C49, IEC61089, ASTM B238, CSA C49. 

3. Application 

ACSR bare conductors are used for overhead high tension power transmission lines having long spans.

Conductor are aluminum conductor steel reinforced.

5. Model

Model of aluminum conductor steel reinforced is LGJ in Chinese (also named ACSR in English).

6. Specific property for using

(1) The permissible long-time operating temperature for aerial conductor is 70°C.

(2) The circumstance that long distance rare climate and ice coverage rare occurring in heavy ice area, the most biggest stress of cable at the lowest arc downing point should not exceed 60% of the destructive power at a short time.

(3) When connecting conductors, the conductor near to the connecting tube can’t be prominent. Otherwise, the force on the operating conductors will be unbalanced after connectors are pressed, the connecting tube should be plated by moistureproof paint in order to protect from corroding.

(4) Under installation, the arc downing stress of all the conductors at home distance to the ground and across building can be 10-15% higher than regular tension.
